The thing I love the most about this photoshoot is that beyond my red hair being a draw, I was really able to express myself. Maybe painting the picture & including red is sometimes the point, almost like just in this room I’ve done an almost-blonde shoot that spoke very differently about me. And I did this myself! It is definitely 2020 that I’m doing this, with a point to be throw across from August 2019 – I can’t even believe how much I have to express about this one though. Without pressure, without self-deprecation or judgement, I can post a photoshoot like this and spit it back like it’s resounding. And as for this concert tee, or this concert, which was incredible, I’m really glad to be sporting the red hair with it like Lights and her bright red hair & coordinating merchandise. The concert was incredible, so glad I did a shoot for the shirt. So at least I have this photoshoot to post! It is a long photoshoot. Haha.
I always thought there was a million different ways to wear my graphic tees/merchandise styles. I have way too many photoshoots of merchandise shirts and I’m going to go through all the posts in bulk one day and dissect them for the pictures. That’ll be rad! Read more to see the rest of this shoot.

90s jeans? 2010 album by Lights? Hot pink tank top? Rhetorical questions + lots of question marks?? What could that mean? The Listening. The Electro-Pop slaying jams that made 2010 as amazing as it was. I was a fan back then, watching the Ice music video in like 2009. But now I take Lights merch to the next level of course, just because I can, and just for lots of fun. You saw me in a 2010 Lights shirt in the photoshoot “Everybody Breaks A Glass” and with a purple 2010 Lights button in Can’t Pin Me Down & others, but this post is all about The Listening album and how it slayed my life past & present even though I think this shirt is from 2009 but yeah same general era anyway. Hahaha. So yeah another outside photoshoot…woo spring!

On December 31st I worked harder on that blog post than I EVER have on ANY of them, by FAR. I took my time yet hurried to finish it by midnight, and I was freakin’ proud of that!! But then it was like, yay 2018!…Hmm…Been staring at the empty blog screen/blogshoot folders for 17 days and I’m wondering when inspiration will strike. I was literally just sitting here like “wow I did a couple small blogshoots this year and I have zero inspiration to edit them.” *starts looking at pictures from this time last year where I was struggling in a parallel way* “Maybe it’s time to tell the truth.”
It seems bold. It seems new. It seems risky. But it’s not. I’ve always been honest, but what about moments like this? When everything is kinda up in the air or frozen or changing, who am I in these moments? Because not being able to get any words onto this page was like writer’s block’s fault for 2 weeks but now there’s just…Nothing else left to say? So I get to tell the truth. No secret, no lie, no facade, and just so you’re not overhyped, here’s a spoiler: I’m not trying to undo any deceit or crime with words. The truth is… I can be boring!

When I first heard Lights’ song Ice in like 2009 or 2010, I fell in love. I watched the music video all the time, and totally fell in love with this beautiful creature that is Lights. But somehow she kind of fell off my radar until March 2013 when I found out she was playing an acoustic show here in Seattle so I quickly ordered her most recent album from the time (Siberia Acoustic) and fell IN LOVE with it! I loved her acoustics even more than her electro-pops! So I ordered all her discography and from then on she was (and is) on of my all-time favorites. And now I wanna talk a little bit about her album Skin&Earth which ranked as my #3 favorite album of the year 2017 (it literally won an award I made up, I’ll post about that next month) I got this cool pre-order bundle and fell in love with the album and blah blah blah…Wasn’t listening to it as much but yesterday I was trying to figure out what album to play while I got ready and shot my outfit, and I instantly knew it had to be Skin&Earth. This album brought up my spirits, I was reminded of why I love it so much, and it influenced this shoot in even some quirky ways. So a main chunk of this post is about this album and how amazing it is and it’s inspiration to me, but the other parts are some other really cool stuff including Danon taking me to the Sky View of the Columbia Center in Seattle, the tallest building on the west coast or something! But yeah there’s the September bundle of Lights merch I got that I scattered throughout this post, then there’s my Kicks photoshoot which is the like…main shoot and also inspired and broken-down by each song of this album, info on all my outfit and makeup deets, and of course wrapped up every little part with a sprinkle of Skin&Earth. It’s a beautiful day outside. It really has been so beautiful lately in Seattle. That’s like…my favorite thing. I think spring is my favorite season. But anyway, y’all know that beautiful and genius artist Lights? I’ve been completely in love with her music since 2013 (I’ve liked it since 2010 but became in love with it in spring 2013, wow happy 4th year anniversary @ Lights) and she’s always been like…a voice and an inspiration for my life. The first CD I ever got from her was her Siberia Acoustic album, and it’s still in my top 5 favorite albums of all time. ANYWAY, she’s getting ready to release new music so the other day she said everything on her online store was 50% off! I immediately went to check out the site and see what was still available. I got a shirt and a cool jacket… I wanted to show you the shirt. This is different from all my 65+ merch shirts, it’s camouflage with an orange collar. And on the shirt says “Show me that your love will never change” I LOVE that lyric! Cactus in the Valley is one of my favorite songs by her. This shirt is beautiful, extremely comfy, and I want to show you my photoshoot for it!
So yes, it’s yet another graphic tee outfit. Oh well, don’t be mad about it. This one is extra fun! Continue reading to see more in depth.
